Xiomara Blandino – Miss Nicaragua 2007

On March 17, 2007 the beauty pageant, ‘Miss Nicaragua 2007’ was hosted in the tropical capital of Managua at the elegant Ruben Dario National Theater. It was here that the Latin beauty, Xiomara Blandino (22), captivating the crowds and judges alike and ultimately won the adoration of all at this vibrant event in Nicaragua. Xiomara Blandino was crowned Miss Nicaragua 2007 and also received the titles for ‘Nice Legs’ and ‘Face of Avon’.

Miss University World, Cristiana Frixione, presented Xiomara with the Miss Nicaragua crown. Along with her title as Miss Nicaragua, Xiomara Blandino became a representative of her home country at the lavish 56th Annual Miss Universe pageant, which was held live in Mexico. Although this talented beauty was not chosen for the final, Blandino still made history for Nicaragua by being placed in the Miss Universe top ten. This accomplishment had only been achieved prior to this by Miss Nicaragua 1977, Beatriz Obregon.

Miss Nicaragua 2007 was the second title won by Xiomara Blandino, who in 2006 took home the crown for “Reina del Carnaval” at the “Alegria por la vida” festival held annually in Managua, Nicaragua. Nonetheless, this will not be the end of the road for Xiomara Blandino who is set to be the first Nicaraguan delegate to represent her country at the ‘Miss Tourism Queen International’ to be held in Hangzhou, China.

Xiomara Blandino was born September 10, 1984 in the capital city of Managua. Currently Blandino is studying Architecture at the renowned Instituto de Estudios Superiores within the ‘Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria’. Blandino also has a keen fascination with the martial arts, particularly Tae Kwon Do, where she has already obtained a black belt. Her other interests include reading, cooking, pottery, as well as a variety of dance forms from the traditional Nicaraguan ballet to the Latin influences, such as the flamenco.

It was not so long ago that Xiomara Blandino had to face a terrible realization that her mother could possibly die after she was diagnosed with cancer. It was this event that influenced her future choices. She began generously contributing her time to the fight against this killer disease as well as increasing awareness regarding cancer and the detection of breast cancer through self-examination. At present Xiomara’s mother is in remission and has gained much strength from her loving family and the support shown by others.
