Inside the Garbage Dump [01:58]
A short view inside the garbage dump in Chinandega, Nicaragua. The entire village surrounding the dump works here, sifting through the trash. Everyday they're out in the dump looking for metal to sell or something salvageable to use. Disease, hunger, and addiction to glue/paint thinner, so hunger isn't as bad, are common here.

I met some saintly people this time in Nicaragua. Rolien Kappen is helping the poorest children in Granada get at least one full meal a day and an elementary education. This is her interview. The interview is about giving something back to the less fortunate people who welcome us into their countries. Nicaragua Mission Trip [12:26]
We stayed at the Casa Bernabe Orphanage in Managua. We had a track club, Vacation bible school, and did some construction work. We visited "the Dump" where almost 3000 people live in mounds of trash. We partnered with a local church (verbo church). To wrap it all up we visited the local lagoon and had a relaxing day.. well some of us did, ben gross and i came down with atrocious food poisoning from a rank coconut we drank the day before. He ended up in the hospital and got out just in time for the flight home.
