Work is Dangerous *True Story Sunday* [06:38]
In the US Army there is a "Culture of Cowardice." It feels like everyone has been trained to cover their asses and lay low for 20 years so they can get out and collect their pension. This really bothered my while I was in Nicaragua, because I was young and wanted to just get things done. So when I would get in trouble for working hard in the name of safety, and no one would care when I went and sat down for the rest of the day it didn't make any sense to me. Especially when I knew that I could raise my hand at any moment and volunteer to walk around the roads of Iraq with a shovel looking for IED's. Don't tell me you care about my safety when you would send me to die without a second thought out in the desert. The day after I was kicked out of the fork lift I was sitting in the motorpool office waiting for them to print me off a slip of paper which would become my license. Even though I was never tested on the machine, I would have a slip of paper saying I could drive it. While I was waiting a soldier came in and said there was an 18 wheeler blocking the road outside. He wanted to know if anybody could move it. I raised my hand and said I could do it. I had never driven an 18 wheeler before. He asked if I had a license, and I told him, "No, but if you need it moved I can do it." And I stood up to walk outside and move the truck, when another soldier in the waiting room chimed in and said, "Dude I wouldn't I heard some kid got pulled out of a forklift yesterday for ...

nicaragua : guasacate beach [00:16]
this is guasacate beach in nicaragua. taken in sept 2011 from the large rock formation at the north end of the beach. the weather started to clouding up just before i shot this, so that's the dulling effect on this video. guasacate beach itself is a beautiful 1+ mile long beach on nicaragua's pacific coast. it is just north of famous surfing spot popoyo beach. hard to access in comparison to other more popular beaches, it takes a few hours on unpaved back roads, the ambiance of the area is A+.

nicaragua : guasacate beach [00:26]
this is guasacate beach on nicaragua's pacific coast. it is just north of popoyo beach, a popular surfing location. video was shot in sept 2011 and taken about the middle of this 1+ mile long beach. guasacate itself is a beautiful hidden wonder in nicaragua. accessed via a 2 hour or so ride on dirt backroads, it is harder to reach than many other popular beaches. the break it fairly strong, so it is not an ideal swimming beach, but the ambiance of everything is A+

Tasbapauni, Nicaragua - a short walk. [05:06]
Tasbapauni is a small coastal community on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua in the RAAS (Región Autónoma Atlántico Sur - South Atlantic Autonomous Region). I was told Tasbapauni means "red dirt." The community is bordered on the east by the Caribbean, and on the west by Laguna de Perlas (Pearl Lagoon). The community is accessible from Bluefields only by boat via Pearl Lagoon. There are no roads or vehicles in the community, and electricity is available only when the community generator is in operation -- usually in the afternoon and early evening. During la contrarrevolucion (the Contra War), the community was the site of fierce fighting centered around the Moravian Church, with memories lingering long in community. A truly beautiful location with a constant ocean breeze, tropical forests, and a serenity unmatched.
