The Genuine Value of Real Estate in Central America [14:53]
These days looking after one's hard earned money is at the top of the list for most people. So what is one of the best ways to look after one's hard earned money? A great way is to take care not to pay more unnecessarily for the things that you purchase. This is especially pertinent if you purchase items that are similar in nature or items that qualify as big ticket items. One of the biggest and most important things we purchase in our lifetimes is real estate. Central America has drawn increasingly large numbers of purchasers from North America due to Central America's proximity, weather, prices and favorable living conditions. So when we look at Central America, the question becomes, what do the countries of Costa Rica, Panama, Belize and Nicaragua have in common? The answer is that they have a lot in common. Besides being located in the geographic area that is Central America, all have tropical climates and diverse terrain. All have beautiful and expansive beaches. All have rainforests and a great variety of flora and fauna. And all have developments that offer buyers the opportunity to purchase a piece of paradise and enjoy it up close. So how do these four Central American countries differ? One of biggest differences you will find will be direct and personal; it will be in your pocketbook. It comes down to just how much paradise you can get for your money. The question then becomes: Why accept less when you can have more? Where is the real value in Central America ...

Excursion to Mombacho volcano - Granada, Nicaragua (mombacho vulkaan, mombacho eruption year) [01:36]
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow video of a travel blog to neighbourhood of Granada, Nicaragua by TravelPod blogger Hilde. See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com Excursion to Mombacho volcano "english text (nederlandse tekst iets lager) Reserva Natural Volcan Mombacho with its thick cloud forest, cool climate, well marked trails, biological station, and wonderful views of Granada and Las Isletas, is about 10 km outside from Granada (about one hour drive by car). The Mombacho volcano has five craters. All of the craters are covered with cloud forest. This type of forest is only found on one other spot in the Pacific, and that is also in Nicaragua on the Maderas Volcano in Ometepe. This beautiful nature can be observed by walking around one of the four craters. Very decent trails have been set up, offering varying possibilities for hiking this volcano. To get to the crater at 1100m, we have to start at the parking area at an altitude of 450m. From here you have to go by foot or you can jump on the tourist-truck. That truck drives up and down from the parking area to the top of the volcano several times a day; the 5 1/2 km road is pretty steep but tarmaced. Most visitors take that truck. We opted for the 1 1/2 hour walk to the crater. Hiking shoes on, a bottle of water and off we go. Arriving at 1100m you can choose between two hiking trails: a moderate one that circles the main crater (1 1/2 km), and another more difficult trail (El Puma) which must be led by a guide ...

There's No Camping at The Gates of Hell - Masaya, Nicaragua [02:00]
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow video of a travel blog to Masaya, Nicaragua by TravelPod blogger Thymeoff. See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com There's No Camping at The Gates of Hell Increasingly aware that DC3's water pump might leave us stranded at any time, we pressed on to Liberia in search of a replacement. As we neared the city, we couldn't help but notice the huge billboards plastered along every available stretch of the highway. Everything from car rental agencies, to luxury beach resorts and American fast food joints. But perhaps more significant were the advertisements for state-of-the-art condominiums, luxury estates for sale, and offers for financial assistance to foreigners for purchase of real estate. The rampant economic colonization of Central America had already been very apparent to us in Panama, especially in areas like Boquete which is fast becoming a mini America. Lured south by the ideal climate, cheap land costs and almost zero tax rates, wealthy North Americans and Europeans alike - with a lot of help from the real estate speculators - are destroying the pristine forests in order to haphazardly develop tourist hotels, restaurants and residences at an astounding pace. This "development" is seemingly progressing with the blessing of the Panamanian government, but at what future cost? Costa Rica has unfortunately not escaped this deluge, as American investors and retirees are buying up land to build Hollywood-type castles, monstrous beach ...
