Rubén Darío was born Felix Ruben Garcia Sarmiento on 18 January 1867 in Metapa, later renamed Ciudad Dario in his honor. A very talented young man, he began producing poetry at the age of 12. Although he faced various obstacles, Rubén Darío was always a prolific and meaningful writer. Darío received great recognition across Latin America and Spain for his outstanding works. Sadly, he died at the age of 49. Some of his masterpieces include "Cantos de Vida y Esperanza", "Prosas Profanas", "Primeras Notas", "Otonales" and Azul.
