Golf Courses in Nicaragua

Golf is a popular sport among men and women the world over. Nicaragua is still catching up with the popularity of golf and golfers may find their options somewhat limited. Several Nicaraguan golf course and resort developments are in the pipeline, so golf-lovers have much to look forward to. Below you will find the description of a golf course in Nicaragua; this will give you an idea of what is on offer. We hope to add more Nicaraguan golf courses in the future.

The city of Managua in Nicaragua is home to two golf courses, the best known of which is Nejapa Golf and Country Club. Nejapa Country Club was established in January 1940. Originally it operated from a chalet upon the hill beside Nejapa Lagoon and it featured a nine-hole golf course as well as two tennis courts. During April 1957 the Nejapa Golf and Country Club relocated closer to Managua. The new location covered an area of approximately 140 acres. A new building was erected and included a bar, restaurant and bowling alley with four lanes. On this new property they were able to set up an 18-hole golf course and also two tennis courts. Unfortunately an earthquake on 23 December 1972 ruined the Country Club's building. In 1979 the Nicaraguan golf club's facilities were further damaged during military conflict. Nejapa Golf and Country Club began reconstruction in 1998 and the new club was opened again in December 2001. Today the golf club has an 18-hole golf course, driving range, chipping area, practice green and four tennis courts with floodlights. Services offered at this Nicaraguan golf course include golf carts, caddies, lessons, a pro shop and bag storage. The clubs golf pro is Ricardo Lyon. Other great facilities enjoyed by golfing patrons are the “19th Hole” bar, a sports bar, formal dinning room with bar, meeting rooms, showers, lockers and a lovely swimming pool. Contact Nejapa Golf and Country Club to find out about their fees.

A Nicaraguan golf resort and estate has recently been completed on the Pacific coast. The Iguana Golf & Beach Club has received much praise for its brilliant golf course, which is considered to be quite challenging. The Iguana Golf and Beach Club estate boasts exceptional town homes and all the facilities necessary for the convenience of residents. Be sure to try a round at the Iguana Golf Club in Nicaragua when traveling in the area.
