Question

Hello from neighboring Costa Rica!

My friend and I will be visiting Nicaragua May 2-8, with one night (May 2) in Managua and then on to Bluefields. Neither of us have been to Nicaragua before. I speak a little Spanish (learned in Costa Rica, which I understand is a somewhat different dialect) but my friend speaks none. We'll be visiting a bilingual friend of his in Bluefields.

Are there any travel tips you can offer us? Stuff that has changed or isn't included in guidebooks. Current events and concerns, etc.

Thanks!

I have been to Nicaragua 4 times. I have been to both Managua and Bluefields. While in Bluefields please listen to your bilingual friend as to what to do and not to do. During the day time i found it to be very enjoyable and fun. When night fell we were not let out side our Hotel. I would compare night time there to us here in the states not roaming around New York city or Los Angeles at night. While there in Bluefields try to take a trip to Corn Island even if for just 1 night. You will find the island to be welcoming as the people on the island talk mostly English. Have fun and enjoy your trip.
