Driving to Bluefields

Is it possible to drive from Managua to Bluefields. The map I have shows the paved road ending before Bluefields. If not, what airline flys there from Managua?

Well, that's true, the road ends in Ciudad Rama, from there you can proxceed to Blufields by boat, but you can also go by plane, i'm posting here a site you can visit for information.

I saw a road that on a map (in the moon handbook for Nica) from Cuidad Rama to Bluefields. Its shown as a dirt road.
Any comments?

Well, Tinalyn, that road you saw in the map, Managua-Bluefield it's a projected road, it's not ready yet. As long as the last time i checked, once it's done, it's gonna be a hell of a trip. I'm waiting for it.
But, there's one to the Caribean, it goes to Puerto Cabezas, and only during the summer time, it's not paved.

Thanks for the reply! Do you know if the road project has even started yet? The road would be great for Bluefields! My hubby and I are "eyeing" Bluefields for retirement. First trip down is in June.
