How do I get to San Juan Del Sur from the Costa Rican border? Also what accomodations is there in San Juan Del Sur and what can I expect to pay for two people?

Hi Don,
My husband and I are also planning a trip to SJDS this winter. The site that has already been listed is pretty good although the hotels that have links from that site tend to be the pricier ones. From what we have seen, the options for accomodations are very diverse in price and type. Try the web site www.planeta.com and go to the section on Nicaragua. There you will find a link to an e-group. I got some excellent replies when I posted a similar question. There is also a good guide book on Nicaragua published by Ulysses. It is available on line at www.chapters.ca and I think from Amazon.com as well. Good luck and enjoy your holiday!

I am planning an extended stay trip to San Juan del Sur within the next few months (from the States). Any information you could send my way as far as what to bring/not bring, job opportunities and housing (in case I decide to stay), requirements for entering the country for an extended period of time would be greatly appreciated. I am also bringing my dog; any info. on how to make her trip as pleasurable as mine would sure come in handy. I'm just so excited to get there. Wish I could be there now.

El Parque Marítimo El Coco queda a 18 km. al sur de San Juan del Sur, en dirección al Ostional. Entrando a San Juan del Sur hay un empalme con un rótulo que indica la dirección al Parque Marítimo El Coco. El camino es de tierra y se llega en 30 minutos. En el invierno es recomendable usar un carro de doble tracción.

Buses salen cada hora del Mercado Roberto Huembes en Managua hacia Rivas. Desde Rivas salen buses hacia El Ostional (que pasan por el Parque Marítimo El Coco) a las 11.30 a.m. , 3 p.m y 4:45 p.m. Desde San Juan del Sur salen buses hacia el Parque Marítimo El Coco a la 1 p.m. ,las 4 p.m y las 5:30 p.m. De la Playa el Coco a San Juan del Sur salen buses a las 6 a.m., las 7.30 a.m. y las 4 p.m.

Transporte "Jorge", ubicado en San Juan del Sur, ofrece viajes expresos a la Playa El Coco, la Playa La Flor, a la frontera, al aeropuerto de Managua etc.
