Sometime in September of this year, I will be travelling to Nicaragua. I will be living there for approximately six or nine months. I have a limited knowledge of Spanish. I can read a little Spanish but, speaking and listening and comprehending the spoken Spanish is an area I need to improve. I will be studying Spanish for approximately the first two months there. Afterwards, I intend to travel through the country and get to know the people, the places and the customs.

I went to Nicaragua and it was fantastic! I stayed at the Hotel Las Mercedes across the street from the airport.
It is a BEAUTIFUL country, and I've always dreamed of returning. It is heart breaking, though, to see the poverty, the homeless kids on the street, children trying to find something to eat in the garbage, and the kids sniffing glue to get high--to take away the hunger and pain. I was so deeply sadened... Please be prepared. I would like to raise money to help fund projects there. Unfortunately, when I went to Nicaragua I was single traveling with 90 teenagers. I returned with alot of hope in raising money, then got married. Now I'm expecting my fourth child, and trying to get through college, while working at the same time. Needless to say, it is going to take me longer than I had anticipated. I still have a deep desire to return, though. If you need any tips about anything, I'll be happy to give you my opinion. |

I'm glad you guys like it. because we (Nicaraguans) love it. and we can do ANYTHING to help it come up from misery, war, disasters, ect. one day i'll come back to raise my kids there, so they can understand why i'm so proud of being Nicaraguense, till i die.

Wow, very interesting story from this string.
Hey Great news your going to Nicaragua. Be careful and think things out before acting. So you are studing Spanish? Where? The name of the Spanish school/ I have a little Church that I help out near the airport. really poor kids but they are all smiles with me. You, lady with all the kids, Congrads on all four! man buy a TV. I'm sure when they are old enough your'll take them there. Try to go to the Atlantic Coast, it is wonderful. I wrote an article on the place; Here have a look: http://www.latinworld.com/magazine/atlanticcoast.htm |
