Unfortunately, this will have to be in English since my native tongue, Spanish, is a bit rusty. I was born in Managua, Nicaragua many years ago. I came to the United States at the tender age of 2 1/2 years old. I have to admit that I am basically a gringo, but I still love my native country. I have visited Nicaragua very often throughout my Life, in fact, my second wife, who I am divorcing, is Nicaraguan. I would like to add on that note that you Nicas are very beautiful and I wish my marriage had lasted. My Mom still makes the nacatamals and bajo, amongst over native dishes. I still have callopinto in the mornings and in this way I keep in touch with my Nicaraguan roots. Currently, I am being recognised as a poet, which is only fitting since Nicaragua is the "Land of the Poets." I am very excited at the thought of meeting actual people that live in my homeland and establishing friendships, so if any other Nicas want to e-mail me, then please do so.

Well I would imagine that you came to the right place. Although the actual roster here @ nic.com is quite small, it's a family nonetheless.
Welcome and make yourself at home. And don't worry you're not alone in being reaquainted with your roots. It's just that some Nicas fail to understand that it's harder for others since they have a more consistent exposure...but it's in our Hearts

SE I have some things in common, I too came here "at the tender age of 2 1/2" and have lost the ability to speak spanish fluently =*[. Regardless, I still hold my roots close and love to hear stories of my family growing up. I have vistited my homeland once (at the age of 14) and was intrigued from there on. Unlike you though I have yet to meet a good looking nica girl, they exist in my family but have honestly lost hope in finding one outside of that realm. Where I live, southern california the latin population is dominated by mainly mexicans.
I'm sorry to hear about your divorce although I believe some break ups as difficult as they me be are ment for a reason. My grandma's home is near the x-presidents home A. Chamaro (actually around the corner) I had the opportunity to walk by a. chamaro's home when I visited nicaragua. I wonder if anyone here knows someone perhaps from my family. My familys last name is SOTO and I am PEREZ by marriage. bert |
