Hola!

Can someone please inform me as to how safe it is to travel to Nicaguara at this time????

I worked a mission in Granada last summer for a week, made some great friends, but now we are being told that it is unsafe to travel to your country due to the Sandinistas and the upcoming election.

I don't mean to sound naive----but anything you can tell me about what is going on in your country would really help.

Oh, I am taking spanish classes in our church once a week, so we can communicate with the people this summer.

Gracious

cindy

PS I am from LOUISIANA

Smile Hello Cyn

the best answer you get would be from someone who is in Nicaragua currently and knows what's up down there. A ver quien puede orientar a Cindy de lo seguro que es viajar alla ahorita. Ella es de Louisiana.........

Smile Well i am not an expert but...

Well all I can say is that my cousin came back from Nicaragua yesterday and he says there is no real danger and that every thing is as normal as can be, besides usually the whole sadinista thing is nothing but a farse and they rarely take action, since the people of nicaragua barely support them because we are tired of the lies and even more of the fact that theyt set us back about 20 years, so if i were you I wouldn't be to worried and I would just enjoy the trip.

My apologies

I hadn't read your posting.

I have not visited Nicaragua in 21 years so personally don't know how good or bad things are, but judging from the fact that my relatives come and go without a problem, I would say things are okay. Yes, elections will take place, but not until October or November (I think) and those of us who oppose the sandinistas are doing everything within our power to prevent them from winning ever again. My advice to you is: keep a neutral stance even if you side with one group or the other. I would avoid talking about politics whenever possible. I will pass your message along to my counterpart, Luciano as he travel to Nicaragua very frequently.
Best regards,

Lorena
