If the people of Israel and Palestine sign a proper peace agreement and enforce it honestly what will happen? The arms dealers, many covert and overt operators and plethora of shonky merchants inside and outside Israel will loose their job, their golden hen will die or they have to face accountability. But, what about the Arab leaders? In the name of "Al-Aqsa" they won't be able to hide many of their scams, isn't it? www.israel.indymedia.org

I don't know what will happen, but I'll tell you something. I am very saddened by the death of that little Palestinian boy and his father. I don't believe that people, particularly children, should be killed for throwing stones. It is a shameful act and it should be condemned and severely punished.
On another note, I was wondering why you have not posted and condemned the terrorist act that wrecked the U.S. ship in Yemen, that killed 17 Americans? Why are you silent? |

Regarding the attack on US naval targets in the Gulf
Some have wondered why I have been silent over condemning the attempted sinking of the United States war ship in the Middle East recently, to the extent that it raises doubts as to my credibility as a commentator. In reality, the violence involved is, in such detracts eyes, no less violence than, presumable the violence perpetrated in situations for which I have been critical for. I point out that the violence visited on the peoples of this area as a result of the meddling in the Middle East politics by outside powers, such as those of the West who cynically see the perpetual anarchy created by the goaded on use of blood bath and unresolved enmity between the people of the region - be they Semite (Palestinian) harming Semite (non Palestinian Israel); Christians harming Muslims (80s Lebanon), Muslim harming Muslims, Iraqi Kurds attacking Turkish Kurds etc. and - the calculated upheavals that flow from such tactics. Such as - disadvantaging the overwhelming majority in these lands by propping up family based regimes solely to facilitate the triumph of the bully - in order to, for example, facilitate the fossil fuel centered life style of the West. Of course, all violence is regrettable - but the order of magnitude of that violence is, unfortunately tempered by the circumstances under which that violence occurs and in this case the political perspective can not take a back-seat to the emotional perspective. I know, it is tough. I will not condemn the legitimate targeting of the main agency of all this suffering, the United States of America and it's administration! There is another way, Nelson Mandella shows us that but were it not for the legitimate targeting of the oppressive regime that he fought - in the first instance, by way of all manner of means, not the least of which were violent, his magnanimity would have had no other forum than a cell on Robin Island. |

I couldn't agree more with you both.
But I have a question don't you think that in this situation the US needs to remain more neutral than in anything else. I don't think it's fair that Israeli's whether they be our allies or not are receiving favors from the US, while Palestinians aren't being treated with the same respect...it isn't fair...the actions of a nation don't generalize peoples just because religious beliefs clash. The war between Muslims and Jews or Arabs and Jews is going to continue until they are both independent of eachother. People need to take a stance and find soemways to resolve this situation without resorting to more unecessary violence. |

Faruque:
First, you write well. However, I find your eloquence a bit distracting. Lets focus on the last sentence of your first paragraph: "In reality, the violence involved is, in such detracts eyes, no less violence than, presumable the violence perpetrated in situations for which I have been critical for." My question is: Which situations SPECIFICALLY have YOU been critical for? You assume that we know you, when in fact we do not. On your second paragraph: "Christians harming Muslims...in order to, for example, facilitate the fossil fuel centered life style of the West." You conveniently fail to mention that it was the Muslims who attacked Christians because of their religion which resulted in Lebanese Christians joining forces with the Israelis in order to be able to defend themselves from being annihilated from the region. Last but not least, you are biased and sad. |
