If you don't read the speed signs and break the speed limit on the open highway you can bet your last dollar that you will get a speeding fine sent to you by snails
mail. But if you break the law on the "superhighway" will you get a fine sent to you by e-mail? If you don't then what else could happen if you don't read the rules on the "superhighway"? Are you aware of the possibilities when you click "I Accept" when faced with an online agreement while surfing the Net? Are these agreements legally binding? Are they enforceable in a court of law? Are you bound by the agreement even if you didn't read it? Have there ever heard of any court cases relating to such agreements? Is it possible that you might be agreeing to more than you bargained for by simply clicking the I Accept icon? Do the questionnaire at http://seven.bf.rmit.edu.au/clickwrap and self assess your own awareness of some critical issues surrounding the use of online agreements. It is quite interesting really and you may be surprised in what you will learn. |
