Moving to Nicaragua
If you are associated with an organization then they should be able to give you some guidance. You could come as a tourist. You get 90 days. When your time is up either go to Managua and buy more time with Immigration or exit to Honduras or Costa Rica and re-enter for another 90 days. Residency is another option. You will be looking at spending at least $1,200 to comply with the regulations. You will have to prove $500/month income, get a police report, a health report, have your original Birth Certificate and put up a $290 deposit (which most likely you will never see again and it does not draw interest) in a local bank. Do not bring traveller's check because the exchange rate is so poor. Most people bring US dollars or draw a cash advance from their cedit card. A Visa card is better than a Master card. You can also do your debit card. They also have ATM machines. Also, bring new bills..none with cuts, tears, marks, or real worn ones. Hope this helps.
