Hola,
I am a fotojournalist from montreal, and will soon be heading to Nicaragua to take a closer look at a crisis that has been happening for some time, but gets little media coverage here in the North; that is the present coffee crisis and its effect on the local campesinos. I am wondering if anybody would have any informatiomn regarding the situation, or if anybody knows of good websites/publicatons where i can learn more. i have been following nicaraguan daily papers for some time now, but i find there is still not a lot of info. Also if anybody knows, or works with local organisations that are involved with campesinos in Nicaragua that i can be in touch with while i am in Nicaragua i would greatly appreciate it. Pueden contestar en espanol tambien. Gracias y hasta pronto Vincenzo |

I went to Nicaragua this summer to work as a volunteer of SCI (service civil international). I was working with children and adolescents, so this has nothing to do with your project, but I might know an organization that could help you. SCI is also sending volunteers to them. The organization is called CEPA and I think they work with local farmers.
Here is the adress of their office in Managua and their email: Dirección de CEPA Managua: Semáforo de ENITEL Villa Fontana 20 varas al Lago # 340 Teléfono: (505) 2674971, Telefax: (505) 2771199 cepa@ibw.com.ni Maybe they can help you! Good luck in Nicaragua!! Katrien |
