I lived in Siuna from 1954-56 as a child from Canada. My father worked for La Luz Mines. I remember many people from there. My father's secretary was named Leontine and we spent time with the Maryknoll and Moravian missionaries.
I hear the mine did terrible things environmentally to Siuna. I would like to go back for a visit. Does anyone know if it is safe and where I could find a place to stay. My parents were the first white people to have a going away party in their honour. They were good to the local people and did not treat them poorly, like the other mine employees did.

I was born in Siuna in 1954
Also my Dad worked for the same company and I believe that you Dad was the General Manager for the Company main grocery store. I left Siuna in 1976. I believe that your Dad last name was Wolf or Wolfe
Hoping to hear from you. Siuna is now safer; problem is with the roads. Most likely you will have to fly in. Before anything you need to get in touch with more Nicaraguans familiar to the area when you are in Managua. People back home are always friendly
