Thank you all.
I had a flood in the room where I have my computer. It took a while to sort out. All the names you mention Jose, strike a chord in my memory but I am afraid I can't get them in order yet. I am a mere beginner at geneology. As to second surnames I can't help there at all. I know the Nic. custom of carrying several family names, it is is a good thing, like carrying your family tree with you at all times and people can recognise where you come from but I'm afraid I don't remember any other surnames. One thing that strikes me is how the same first names keep popping up all the time. Camilo..coming down the generations Jose and Joaquin. We were related to the Barcenas family in Granada. My mother's uncle ( can't remeber his name or who he married ) Had one daughter CLARA and 2/3 sons. The sons all suffered from a genetic disease which made them almost blind. later we heard that they had been to USA and had something done to their eyes and they had much better vision. Clara told my mother that she never married because this gene was carried by the female line ( like haemophilia ) and as she had inherited from her mother she did not want to pass such a thing on to children. My mother corresponded with her until her death in 1988. I know I have several letters of my mother's and these may contain more information but at the moment can't remember where these are. I am so happy you answer my last message. Did you read the posting done by your cousin Ana Margarita Barcena-Levy? I have all the addresses of the Barcenas Levy:
Alfredo Barcenas-Levy: alfredobarcenas@yahoo.com Ana Margarita Morales-Barcenas: ammorales@grupo-uno.com They will provide you with all the addresses and you will be able to replace your birth certificate. I have the information about Jose Barcenas Meneses son of Clara Barcenas y Francisco de Paula Barcenas-Alvarez. Jose Barcenas married twice, first with Josefina Morales and have four sons that were born blind and Clara who was strongly miopic. Jose Barcenas married a second time and had two children. I guess the genetic flaw was carried by the Morales wife because the children he has with Adela Gamez were normal. I am willing to share my family tree with you. I only want to link your Camilo Barcenas-Rocha with my Barcenas branch. I hope that your cousins Barcenas-Levy will help me to do the connection. I have had this hobby for many years. One of the great satisfaction is to find relatives like you that have lost all connection with Nicargua and trying to reestablish it. Welcome to Nicaragua and the Barcenas family again! I live in New Orleans, Lousiana, USA. You can write to my e-mail address jmejial@yahoo.com. Regards, Jose |
