Most of the Nicaraguan desserts are based on milk, locally called leche and they have a soft texture. There is the arros con leche, which is a rice pudding, flavored with vanilla and the cajeta de leche. The tres leches cake (cake of three milks) is a sweet dish that is also loved in Paraguay and it is made of flour, unsalted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, milk, sweetened and condensed milk and evaporated milk, plus whipping cream and vanilla. Besides these, there is also the pio quinto (which is eaten at Christmas time), which is a torte with rum and white pudding, with cinnamon on top.
