My friend is starting work in Nicaragua later this year. She wants to get on to the Internet as soon as she arrives.
Can anyone tell us which are the principal Internet companies for personal Internet/e-mail? (not cable) Is there a list of these companies on the web? Thank you for any advice you can send. Calmac |

Hello,
It depends on if she wants a cable connection or phone internet connection. cable isn't available in all areas of managua. If she wants she can just look in the yellow pages and see many companies there. IBW is a big one. http://www.ibw.com but there are many. Keith risitodeplata@hotmail.com |

On line in Nicaragua
IBW does provide Internet service but so do the cable companies and other lower costing venues.
Every year there is more access and depending on what you would like to spend per month, you may choose the appropiate service you require. A popular option to John´s IBW service is Alfanumeric http://www.alfanumeric.com.ni/ Hope this helps, Jorge Giraldez-Benard Latin American Advisors Company Ltd. e-mail JGiraldezB@yahoo.com YahooPager,MSN User name: JGiraldezB P.O. The internet cafes are so cheap in Managua...and fairly well equipped. You can get online for an hour for about 20C$, which is just over a dollar I think. I know your friend wants a personal connection but just to let you know it is possible to connect easily and cheaply in Managua at least. Just out of interest, where is your friend from and what sort of thing will she be doing out there? Im English and heading out myself in August to look for a job.
