JQ is right.
I am from Europe and recently visited Nicaragua (GRingo trail but its a start)to discover a beatifull country. Tourism can be good to the industry (Costa Rica)generating jobs. Exchanging my dollars for cordobas and eating, drinking etc... being a consumer (with a very tight budget) I was part of the locals daily business (More of me will have a more significant influence). Anyhow the whole investing of property, commerce or any other activety will bring benefit to the country as a whole. Living in a world of free market and capitalism some will take advantage but with time, patience , hard work and thinking, Nicaragua has got a good future. |

The Nicoya is right
I has been reading the argument within Nicoya and JGiraldez or whatever, and I think all the overseas people is goin to Nicaragua because they see the way to become rich in any way, laundry money, explotation of the poor people whom working to them per miserable wage. The are going to do investment (I w'll say to bet) and then they get substantial profit to cost of living's poorest nicaraguan people whom most to resign to live like slave under the boot of the oligarchy that has been in Nicaragua during decade and now they most to resign to live under the boot of the oligarchy and the such said "investor" whom only are enslaver and live like the vultures waiting to fall to the bodydeath. The overseas investor never think in the necessities people. they think in base how to get the other people job to low cost. While this exist all the poor people in Nicaragua can't to enjoy any entertaiment or fair vacation, because the same goverment is the partner of all Investor (enslaver) and get substantial profit too so when they left the power they're the good enought rich to seeback to the people whom help to them get the power. that sad but this it the real true in our county. To finish ...what hell mean :Oxford club" is some manual to learn how explode out the poor people in the third world countries??? or What???.
I live in USA since 1988 and during this time my husband and I built a familiar business and my children now are in College. this w'll be impossible if I and my family remains living in Nicaragua. My husband and I sould be working all our entire life there like eslave and never ever we could get what we have here. We take vacation, we going to the entertaiment event, we raising our child in medium class environment... Why my people in Nicargua can't get that... because the such said "Investor" and the oligarchy and Monopoly of the rich family or the "Investor" Fort hat I said Nicoya is right... twiggy |

Re: The Nicoya is right
Dear Nicoya,
It is very hard to see the reality of Nicaragua from one angle only, we have to take a look in every aspect of the spectrum…I am a Nicaraguan citizen living in the US since the early eighties…force to live outside my motherland, because of the eternal war in Nicaragua. I completely understand your concern and point of view…In the name of all those people including myself I THANK YOU, and let me tell you that you are a Nobel man by NOT forgetting the unfortunate ones, for speaking out for THEM. I think that Nicaragua needs those foreign investors in order to be in competition with the rest of the world in this game of global market and create jobs, invite more investors good ones not money laundries, because not all are bad and geographically speaking Nicaragua being so close to the main potential customer the USA, I think Nicaragua with her beautiful landscaping and wonderful people will offer a much better and cheaper way to have a nice and less expensive vacation to anyone like you and me that lives in the states or any other country, because of so many reason… and one of then will be the cheaper labor that investors can have in Nicaragua In COMPARE with other countries... I don't see anything wrong with that as long is within reasonable wages, without any discrimination and under constantly supervision from the proper Unions and mainly the government, that should AND have to be working nonstop for the country's main interest: "It's people welfare"…And for the Investors, there responsibilities should laid on the goodwill by not only being fair with the workers but being smart as well, in learning how to recognize when they're dealing with a bad government representative or anyone trying to make them self rich against the general population "the poor"…because they should take a look of Nicaraguan history…Nicaraguan People won't take the mistreating and the abuse anymore for too long length of time….In theory I'm 100% with you Nicoya, but in practice I think that Nicaragua for good or for bad needs to be part of this GLOBATIZATION. Gracias mi brother…. |

Now we are talking!
Don't get me wrong my panas. I am sure, (let me refrace that) I am certanly that Nicaragua needs that economy bust! But like in everything, will be abused of power, wages etc. My country is hungry and the lack of business for my fello citizens is an opporunity for any Bandido from those big companies to come an abused our labors. Think of this. Next to the Airport there is a Free Zone. You will find cloths manufacturing from Levis, Marshall, JCPenney etc. They pay 20 dolares a week. Who is benefiting from that?...They have to work 50-60 hrs a week. How much do you pay in the USA for a pair of Jeans? $35-55? Now this so call investors, build a business with Nicaraguan Money (Cause they get loans from the banks) Loundry their money, claim chapter 11 y see ya! With MR. acayo things will be different. He is a business man and I am sure that he will monitores all of this so call investors. Thank you! |

Re: Now we are talking!
You're right! My friend…I wish I could do something about this, I have family members there, and I know what you're talking about..But, what can one do?..Issues as this and many others are not the investor's responsibilities, but the national government, remember that saying? " Le das la mano y te agarran el codo", or "El hombre llega hasta donde la mujer quiere" and many others in this case "The investor(s) llegan hasta donde el gobierno les permite". The key is… the individual(s) or the government representation in this and other matters have the responsibilities in fulfill what the general population needs to get out of the hole of poverty…What we really need to begin is just a handful of honest and knowledgeable politician that been leaving out of Nicaragua that knows the important of not having to live in your own country and you only find this when you are away from it..but what we have is just the same old and ignorant politician that I been seeing since the old days and all they do is change position and sometime partidos politicos…

What can we do?
A lots of things.
1. Educate the pueblo 2. Use the democracy, talk about this issues. 3. Get involved People like you who live in the USA have the power. People like Oxford Group can monitore investors, even though they are businessman and at the end all they care is to make money! Nicaragua is rich in many resources, all we have to do is find it, and sale it. I hope Fabiola Rizo (The new INTUR apointed do a better job in showing the whole World what Nica is all about) |
