Majestic La Polvora Fortress
The majestic old La Polvora Fortress stands at the end of Calle Real Xalteva in Granada, and serves as a reminder of a time when this lovely part of Nicaragua needed protection from invaders. From the fortress visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of virtually the entire city of Granada, as well as the beautiful Lake Managua and the renowned Mombacho Volcano.

Increase in Nicaragua’s Tourism Options
In response to the growing number of tourists visiting Nicaragua, a number of new hotels have opened and tour operators have increased the number and choices of tour packages. In an interesting new initiative, Nicaragua’s Minister of Tourism, Mario Salinas, has signed an agreement with farmers in Nicaragua’s northern tobacco and coffee farming areas with the aim of developing the region’s tourism infrastructure.
