The National Arboretum of Nicaragua is located just south of the old center of the city of Managua, and north of Tiscapa Park, providing a peaceful haven in a busy city. Its central location makes it convenient to visit when viewing other attractions in Managua, and it offers a close-up view of more than 200 trees, plants and bushes from all of Nicaragua's regions. The arboretum was founded in 1991 by Juan Bautista Salas, one of Nicaragua's most prominent and dedicated scientists, and provides a living library for students, and visitors, to learn about the country’s natural flora and how to protect it.

As a strong advocate for peace and a promoter of the principles of democracy, Ibarra Mayorga was known for his patriotism and his non-interventionist stance with regard to foreign policy, holding the view that political rulers should retain diplomacy and avoid conflicts not directly related to self-defense of home territories. Nestled in a lush valley, the town of Quilalí, with its population of around 13,000, serves as the administrative center of the municipality of Quilalí. The town is located around 264 kilometers north of Nicaragua's capital city of Managua, and 80 kilometers east of Ocotal, the capital city of the Nueva Segovia Department. Born on 2 June 1955 in Managua, Nicaragua, Hernaldo Zúniga spent most of his life in Masaya where he attended Jesuit colleges. He was later sent to the United States to further his studies. Following in the footsteps of certain family members, he attended the University of Chile to study law. It was here that Zúñiga discovered his passion for music and talent for composing, writing his first song in 1974. This song was the start of a long and successful career as a musician.
